Terms of Service

Last Updated: May 2, 2026

Overview

The full terms follow.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of FRIENDS (the "App"). Please review them before using the App.

Article 1 (Scope)

These Terms apply to all relationships between you and the operator concerning your use of the App. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the App.

Article 2 (Eligibility)

1. The App is intended for individuals aged 13 or older. Users between 13 and 18 should use the App only with parental consent. 2. Users previously suspended for violating these Terms may not re-register.

Article 3 (Account / Identifier)

1. The App requires no registration. On first launch, a random number (a UUID — a universally unique identifier) is generated locally in your device and is used as your internal identifier. 2. No email address, phone number, Apple ID, or other personal information is required. 3. You are responsible for managing the UUID and session tokens (the keys that keep you signed in) stored on your devices. 4. You may not transfer, lend, or share your account with any third party.

Article 4 (Prohibited Conduct)

You may not engage in any of the following while using the App:

1. Illegal conduct:

2. Harmful conduct toward others:

3. Spam:

4. Impersonation:

5. Technical interference:

6. Content:

7. Other:

Article 5 (Responses to Violations)

1. If the operator determines that a user has violated these Terms, the operator may take any of the following actions without prior notice:

2. The severity of the response depends on the severity of the violation. Serious violations (sexual exploitation, violent threats, illegal activity) are subject to immediate permanent suspension. 3. The operator is not obligated to explain the details of suspension decisions.

Article 6 (Reporting and Blocking)

1. Users may report other users or specific messages to the operator. The operator will review reports and respond promptly when a Terms-of-Service violation is confirmed. Response times vary depending on the volume and nature of reports. 2. Users may block other users. Blocking prevents message exchange, incoming calls, and profile viewing with that user. 3. Blocked users are not informed that they have been blocked.

Article 7 (Service Content)

1. The App provides messaging, group chat, and voice/video calling features between friends. 2. The operator may add, modify, or discontinue features without notice.

Article 8 (Subscriptions)

1. Subscriptions are offered via App Store In-App Purchase on a monthly or yearly basis. 2. Subscriptions renew automatically. To cancel, use the App Store subscription management screen. 3. Cancellation and refunds after purchase follow Apple's policies. The operator cannot process refunds directly. 4. Because subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID, deleting your in-app account does NOT automatically cancel an active subscription. To stop billing, you must cancel separately from Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions (or from the App Store subscription management screen).

Article 9 (Intellectual Property)

1. Copyright, trademarks, and other intellectual property rights in the App belong to the operator. 2. Content you post or send through the App remains your property. You grant the operator a non-exclusive license to use such content (reproduction, display, transmission, storage) only to the extent necessary to provide the service. 3. You warrant that the content you post does not infringe the rights of any third party.

Article 10 (Disclaimer)

1. While the operator takes reasonable care to provide the App, the operator does not guarantee:

2. The operator bears no responsibility for disputes between users or for real-world relationships or transactions between people who meet through the App. 3. The operator is not liable for damages caused by natural disasters, communication infrastructure failures, or outages of third-party services such as Apple, Amazon Web Services, Cloudflare, Expo, or Sentry. 4. Messages (text, photos, videos, voice, files, and location) are end-to-end encrypted on-device, and neither the server administrator nor any third party can technically read their contents (based on tweetnacl / X25519 + XSalsa20-Poly1305). However, please note: (a) the App's security depends in part on device-level protections (passcode, Face ID); (b) content you submit via the in-app report / feedback channels is intended to be read by the operator for triage; (c) the encryption reflects current cryptographic state of the art and does not guarantee absolute security into the indefinite future. The App is not designed for transmitting ultra-sensitive information such as medical records or financial data.

Article 11 (Limitation of Liability)

1. If the operator is liable to pay damages to a user, the amount shall be limited to the total amount of subscription fees the user has paid for the App over the past 12 months. 2. This limitation does not apply in cases of willful misconduct or gross negligence by the operator.

Article 12 (Changes to These Terms)

1. The operator may change these Terms without notice when deemed necessary. 2. For significant changes, the operator will make reasonable efforts to notify users in advance via in-app notification or similar means. 3. The revised Terms take effect when displayed in the App. Continued use of the App after such display constitutes your agreement to the revised Terms.

Article 13 (Severability)

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
